An early morning burglar surprises a Burton woman. She surprises him back.
A Burton woman who heard a noise while she was watching TV early Thursday morning found someone going through her purse in another room, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
She was lying in her bed around 1:45 a.m. when she heard something in the kitchen of her home on a small road off Broad River Boulevard, according to the report. When she went to check, she found a man rummaging through her purse in the kitchen.
Her wallet was in his hand and she promptly asked him what he thought he was doing.
“Oh s---,” he exclaimed before dropping the wallet and sprinting through the door and escaping through the garage. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect is described as a white male wearing a gray “fuzzy” hooded sweatshirt, according to the report. She said she didn’t get a good look at his face.
The victim and deputies believe he had gotten in through a broken side door.
