Truck, trailer, tools vanish from Burton storage units. Owner has some suspects in mind
A break-in at a Burton storage company left a business without a truck and a number of expensive tools Tuesday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
Some time between about 4 p.m. on Monday and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a thief broke into two neighboring storage units at Four Seasons Storage on Parris Island Gateway and stole a brown Chevrolet Silverado 1500, a black flatbed trailer, 12 pieces of lawn equipment and the key to a Ford F-150, according to the report. The stolen objects had an estimated value of $17,500.
Surveillance video from the storage facility showed a car pull up shortly after 11:30 p.m. and the Chevrolet truck being driven away a short time later, according to the report. The video was not clear enough to identify anyone inside the car and did not have a clear view of the front of the two units.
The entry code assigned to the victim and his employees was used to get into the facility that night, according to the report. Deputies were examining a list of former employees.
