Coastal Living names this Beaufort County community a top place to live in 2018

The Habersham community was recently ranked as one of the 20 Best Places to Live on the Coast in 2018 by Coastal Living.

According to the magazine, Habersham is “the small town you wish you’d grown up in,” that is both “both dreamy and timeless.” Here, new and old design combine to create “a place that really does feel like it’s been here a couple of centuries, instead of decades.”

This Beaufort County community was ranked in fourth place behind Santa Cruz, Calif., The Kennebunks, Maine and Long Branch, N.J. The magazine noted Habersham’s close proximity to Beaufort, Charleston and Savannah as a plus.

Beaufort, N.C., was ranked No. 14 of 20 on Coastal Living’s list.

Habersham Land Company designed the community to harmonize with historical villages and towns in South Carolina, according to the Habersham website. In addition to tapping into the area’s architectural aesthetics, the community also takes full advantage of the natural beauty surrounding it.

“Our town plan was intricately laid amidst the delicate natural landscape with particular attention given to the outdoor public realm of parks and greenways for residents to inhabit and enjoy surrounding the homes,” the company’s website reads. “By creating streetscapes that are safe and pleasant, one is naturally drawn out of the home to spend more time walking and getting to know neighbors throughout the town.”

Habersham has also been selected as a Southern Living Inspired Community and a Coastal Living Community and was given the Best in American Living award for best neighborhood design by Professional Builder magazine and the National Association of Home Builders.
