Three Lowcountry foods you should order during Beaufort Restaurant Week

If you want to have a true Lowcountry experience during this year’s Beaufort Restaurant Week, there are a few foods that you won’t want to miss.

While all of the foods are undoubtedly delicious, there are some foods on the menus that are a little more Lowcountry than others.

First and foremost, Beaufort is known for it’s shrimp.

Whether it’s shrimp and grits or Lowcountry shrimp, you should not miss a dish made with these delicious crustaceans, most of which are caught in the waters just off of our coast.

Secondly, while it may not be very healthy, you should order something fried.

Fried fish, fried chicken, fried vegetables, it doesn’t matter, we like to fry things in the South.

Which means if you are ever going to take a cheat day and eat some comfort food, this is the place to do it.

Thirdly, make sure you don’t miss out on the pimento cheese.

You can find this deliciously creamy cheese concoction at several of the restaurants participating in Beaufort Restaurant Week.

Some offer it as a topping for a burger, some put it in a dip and offer it up as an appetizer.

Either way, pimento cheese is a very delightful Lowcountry food to eat.

The 2018 Beaufort Restaurant Week began on Jan. 11 and will run until Jan. 21 and you can find the list of participating restaurants, menus and pricing on South Carolina’s restaurant week website.
