A store clerk in Burton wasn’t tricked when a fake $100 bill was passed to her by a customer Friday night, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.

The bill had “for motion picture purposes only” written on it, and the Shanklin Road Family Dollar employee told the man she knew it was fake, according to the report. He told her he had gotten it from Walmart and then paid his bill with real money.

The clerk turned the bill over to deputies on Saturday along with surveillance video of him handing the fake bill to her, according to the report. Later on, deputies came across a man who matched the description provided by the cashier and appeared to them to be the same man seen in the video. He had several similar fake bills on him at the time. He said he used them for music videos.

By Sunday night, the man did not face any related charges, online Beaufort County Detention Center records showed.
