Trask Parkway blaze near furnace leaves home damaged by smoke and fire
A Sheldon-area home was left damaged by fire and smoke after a Monday night blaze, according to the Sheldon Fire District.
Two adult residents were home at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported, Assistant Fire Chief Dale Glass said on Wednesday. The home sustained some minor fire damage and heavy smoke damage.
The fire appeared to have started near the furnace area of the home, and it spread into the floor, Glass said. The cause of the fire has not officially been determined yet and is still under investigation by the fire district.
The fire to the home within the 1600 block of Trask Parkway was reported shortly before 7 p.m. Monday, according to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Bob Bromage. There is no criminal investigation into the fire because it did not appear to be suspicious, he said.
The American Red Cross is assisting the residents financially and provided comfort kits with personal hygiene items, according to a news release from the organization on Wednesday.
