A burglar on St. Helena Island used a flip-flop shaped stepping stone to smash a window and break into a home, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.

The home was last seen undisturbed around 8 a.m. on Dec. 3. The burglary was discovered around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

A small amount of blood was found among the broken glass and a DNA sample was collected for evidence, according to the report. Other DNA samples were also collected from the home.
