He pocketed a wallet and pretended to help the owner look for it, Beaufort police say

Beaufort Police Department is asking the community to help identify a man who allegedly stole a wallet at the Lady’s Island Walmart on Friday, according to a department Facebook post.

A woman dropped her wallet at the Lady’s Island Walmart on Sea Island Parkway Friday afternoon, according to a police report. A man seen on security footage in a red and gray hat, red jacket, red shoes, a white shirt and dark pants allegedly picked the wallet up and put it in his pocket, according to police.

When the woman came back to the checkout line to look for her wallet, the man allegedly offered to help her look for it, according to the post.
