St. Helena coupon collector’s stash of body wash, soap stolen; TP, meat left behind
A St. Helena Island couponer reported her soap supply stolen Monday after finding someone had taken body wash and bars of soap from her shed, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
Approximately 20 bottles of body wash and 55 bars of soap were stolen from the shed that sits beside a home on a small street off Seaside Road, according to the report. The soap was valued at “about $150 retail (not counting her discount with the coupons),” the report said.
The shed was unlocked at the time, and believed the items were taken some time between Sunday afternoon when her family finished yard work and Monday afternoon when she discovered the items were missing.
The victim told deputies she enjoys couponing and will often make gift baskets for people in the neighborhood, according to the report. There were a number of other valuables stored in the shed — including a supply of toilet paper and a freezer full of meat — that hadn’t been disturbed.
The family has surveillance cameras set up inside and outside of their home, but the cameras did not pick up anything during the time period she believed the soap was stolen, according to the report.
