Want to live or work in a prettier Port Royal? This program could help
Port Royal is renewing a plan it hopes leads to residents living and working in a prettier town.
The program aims to improve the look of businesses in some of the Port Royal’s busiest corridors, including Paris Avenue, Ribaut Road, Lady’s Island Drive, Parris Island Gateway, Savannah Highway and Robert Smalls Parkway.
Work can include aesthetic improvements such as landscaping, painting, power washing, new signs or awnings and improved facades, as long as the finished product is visible from the street.
In return for businesses sprucing up the property, the town will offer to reimburse 50 percent of the project’s cost, up to $2,500 for a $5,000 project. Applications are due to the town’s Redevelopment Commission by 5 p.m. Oct 1.
The proposed projects will then be reviewed at the committee’s meeting on Oct. 18. Selected projects will be completed by June 1, 2018.
