No, the Beaufort County deputies weren’t there to help him make a beer run
A man who appeared to be “grossly intoxicated” while pounding on the door of a Lady’s Island residence late Wednesday asked the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputy who investigated if the officer was there to take him on a beer run, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.
The 43-year-old man on the porch of the Vivian’s Island home was still yelling at the house when deputies arrived, according to the report. In addition to pounding on the door, the man kept trying to turn the locked door knob.
The man, who appeared to be “grossly intoxicated,” didn’t seem to notice that a deputy had arrived and was talking him until the deputy took the man’s wrist and started to detain him, according to the report. He “offered no resistance” and instead allegedly asked if the deputy “was taking him to get more beer.”
The man was charged with public disorderly conduct and released from Beaufort County Detention Center late Thursday morning, according to online detention center records. His bond information was not yet available in online Beaufort County court documents Thursday afternoon. He was also issued a trespass notice for the home.
