Beaufort burglar took cash, electronics and smokes
Several hundred dollars in cash and belongings were stolen from a Polk Village home in Beaufort in early August.
The victims said they returned on Wednesday after being out of town since July 30 to find $400 in cash, two Bluetooth headsets valued at a combined $100 and six packs of cigarettes valued at about $30 missing from their home, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
All of the windows and doors were securely locked when the couple left and were still locked when they returned – except for one window, according to the report. One of the windows at the back of the home was faulty and didn’t properly lock, leaving it easy to slide up from the outside. There were no signs of pry marks or fingerprints on the window or dirt or footprints on the carpet inside.
