She lost her engagement ring on Hunting Island. Can you help find it? If so, there’s a reward
When an engaged couple came to Beaufort to visit family, they left behind more than just goodbyes at the end of the trip.
Scott Roberts and Morgan O’Brien were visiting Hunting Island with Roberts’ mother when O’Brien lost her engagement ring, a family heirloom that had originally belonged to Roberts’ now deceased grandmother.
“She thought she had her ring in a zipped up bag,” said Roberts’ mother, Julie Arrigo Roberts.
That turned out not to be the case, and the ring went missing. The search for it began right away.
“We found a man nearby and we had him run a metal detector right there and then, but we couldn’t find it,” said Arrigo Roberts. We’re just hoping that if someone finds it they’d be kind enough to return it or give us a call.”
Roberts and O’Brien are offering a reward for the return of the ring, though the exact amount of the reward was not specified.
“They are both college educate. They have a good life,” said Arrigo Roberts. “But they are frugal. So its not like they can just go out and buy another one, and it wouldn’t be the same thing because it was an heirloom, so it has a lot of special meaning.
Roberts and O’Brien first met seven years ago as students at West Virginia Wesleyan College. They live in Martinsburg, West Virginia and will be married next June.
Anyone who finds the missing ring or has any information is urged to contact Julie Arrigo Roberts at 304-997-1317. She can also be reached via Facebook.
