Hilton Head man charged after Jasper traffic stop reveals meth, pills, MDMA, pot
A Hilton Head Island man was charged Tuesday night after a traffic stop in Jasper County led to the discovery of several illegal drugs inside of the vehicle he drove, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
Juan Marquis Clarke, 27, was charged with driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, possession of schedule II narcotics, possession with intent to distribute MDMA (ecstasy), possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and trafficking schedule four narcotics after he was pulled over near the intersection of Bees Creek and Fordville roads around 9 p.m., according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Clarke was initially pulled over for a headlight violation and received a driving under suspension charge when he was found in possession of 4.5 grams of marijuana, 2.8 grams of meth, 20 Xanax pills, one morphine pill and 4.5 grams of MDMA powder, the release said.
He was taken into custody by deputies.
