Armed robbery reported at Beaufort ATM

A woman reported being assaulted and robbed at gunpoint outside of a Beaufort bank early Wednesday morning.

The victim was outside near the ATM at the Bank of America in Beaufort Town Center shortly before 2 a.m. when she was attacked, according to Beaufort Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Hope Able. She had minor injuries.

The suspect is believed to be male, but no other description or surveillance image is available, Able said. He was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the woman. He was last seen running heading toward Boundary Street.
