Mystery surrounding empty FedEx truck found on Lady’s Island on Saturday solved
The mystery surrounding a reportedly abandoned FedEx truck found on Lady’s Island Saturday afternoon has been solved.
The truck had broken down before it was found around 3 p.m. outside of a Bluff Farm residence, FedEx Ground spokesperson Nikki Mendicino said on Thursday.
The packages were moved to another FedEx vehicle to be delivered, which explains why deputies found an empty delivery truck, Mendicino said. The truck was pushed toward the side of the road to await a tow truck.
When the box truck was found, it was partially blocking the roadway, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report. When a deputy could not reach immediately reach a FedEx representative, the vehicle was towed by Interstate Towing.
On Wednesday, an Interstate Towing employee said the box truck had been taken to A-1 Towing, based in Ridgeland. An A-1 representative said that the vehicle was repaired at the company’s garage and picked up by its owner.
The Sheriff’s Office report shows there is not an ongoing investigation into the incident.
