1 year after St. Helena Island man’s death, police have no witnesses, suspects or motive
A 21-year-old man was killed one year ago on St. Helena Island and his death remains unsolved.
Marquise Tyquan Singleton was found on Sam Doyle Road in the driver’s seat of his car around 10:30 p.m. on July 31, 2016 suffering multiple gunshot wounds, according to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. He died from his injuries at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Evidence recovered from the road at the time led investigators to believe the shooting happened a short distance from where Singleton was found.
Investigators have no witnesses or suspects in Singleton’s death and there is no clear motive for the shooting “as he had few known enemies,” according to a Sheriff’s Office release.
