Doughnuts left on Burton football field didn’t bring ants, just expensive repair bills
A football field was damaged in Burton over the weekend after a vehicle drove around on it, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
The gates at Burton Wells Recreation Center on Middleton Recreation Drive are locked each night, but someone with a truck or four-wheeler found a way in and spun out on the field, a member of the grounds staff for the county told deputies, according to the report. The groundskeeper said there must be a path to the facility where the vandals got around the gates.
The damage will cost about $500, according to the report. Staff will have to fertilize and reseed the damaged section of field.
