Someone stole $5 from a Beaufort laundry, then inflicted $3,000 in damage to a washer
Thousands of dollars in damage was done to a washing machine at a laundry business early Sunday morning and it was caught on camera, according to Beaufort Police Department.
An estimated $3,000 worth of damages was done to the industrial-sized machine between about 2:30 a.m. and 4 a.m.
In addition, $5 in cash was stolen from the business near Beaufort Plaza Shopping Center on Robert Smalls Parkway, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Hope Able.
There were no signs of forced entry.
A suspect has been identified because the incident was captured on security cameras, Able said.
