A 55-year-old Burton man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly hitting someone with his truck after an argument at a Trask Parkway gas station.

Scott Jansen faces a felony charge of first degree assault and battery and was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center, according to online records. He was released Monday after posting bail on a $10,000 bond, according to court records.

Jansen was accused of hitting another man with his 1999 Dodge Ram after an argument about a gas pump not working at the Trask Parkway Parker’s, according to Beaufort Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Hope Able. The argument between the men, who were not acquainted, began inside the store and continued outside, she said.

A witness told police that Jansen “got into his vehicle and accelerated quickly,” hitting the victim, Able said. The man suffered “minor injuries to his right foot” according to a police report.
