St. Helena Island driver found with puddle of wine at his feet
A 58-year-old St. Helena Island man was arrested Friday afternoon after a deputy allegedly found a puddle of wine at the driver’s feet.
The man told the deputy that he “usually” only gets a citation when this happens and he goes about his business, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report. Around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, the man had a bottle of Chardonnay on the floorboard at his feet when he was pulled over for speeding on his way from a Seaside Road home to a Dugout Lane home, off of Ballpark Road.
He was charged with having an open container and held in Beaufort County Detention Center, according to online detention center records. He was released on personal recognizance Saturday morning, according to online Beaufort County court records.
