Deputies: Lady’s Island argument over confiscated phone leads to accidental firing of gun
A Lady’s Island woman was arrested after allegedly firing a handgun while intoxicated around 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
The 35-year-old woman and her husband were arguing at their Sherwood Lane home after the husband took his wife’s phone away, according to the report.
She told deputies she three glasses of wine around lunchtime and was very upset when her husband confiscated her phone, according to the report. She said she went to her husband’s vehicle, pulled out his .45 caliber handgun and accidentally fired a round. She didn’t know where the gun was pointed when she fired it, according to the report.
The woman was charged with public disorderly conduct and transported to Beaufort County Detention Center, according to online detention center records. She was released Wednesday morning. Her bond information was not listed in online Beaufort County court records.
