Lady’s Island teen found in Burton ditch —after a ‘forgettable’ night out
A Lady’s Island teenager found in a Burton ditch Sunday morning had a night out he couldn’t quite remember, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report. In the process he managed to misplace his wallet, shoes, shirt, phone —and his father’s truck
The 17-year-old was found face-down in the mud around 6 a.m. on Castle Rock Road according to the report. He told deputies that he went to a party somewhere after work the previous night and drank heavily. He couldn’t remember where the party was or where to find his wallet, shoes, shirt, phone or the truck.
The young man said he drank until about 4 a.m., and that his friends refused to take him all the way home to Lady’s Island. They dropped him off in the Burton area, according to the report. He knocked on someone’s door on Sammie Lane. That person called 911 without answering the door. Deputies found the teen shortly after that.
His dad’s truck was found at the intersection of Josephine Drive and Bee Burst Road, the report said. The vehicle was caked with mud, had two new dents and held an empty case of beer cans. The other items have not been recovered.
The teen was charged with public disorderly conduct and taken to Beaufort County Detention Center, according to online detention center records. He was released Sunday afternoon, but no record of his bond information was available online Monday afternoon.
