St. Helena market will celebrate Gullah sustainability, key Reconstruction figure
St. Helena Community Market will celebrate Gullah sustainability and a key figure in the Reconstruction Era on Saturday.
The market, at Sea Island Parkway and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on St. Helena Island, will hold a seed swap and recognize Tunis Campbell, a Freedmen’s Bureau commissioner and key figure during Reconstruction in the South Carolina and Georgia sea islands.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will include a presentation on Campbell.
