High school girl won’t be allowed back into her former Seabrook middle school

A 10th grade Islands Academy student won’t be allowed back into her former school, Robert Smalls International Academy, after an incident on Thursday afternoon.

The female student was allegedly inside the school “with the intention of causing a confrontation” with a middle school student shortly after 4 p.m., according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.

Assistant Principal Jeremiah Young later found the older student on one of the buses about to leave Robert Smalls, the report said. The girl got off the bus with him “after a short verbal confrontation,” according to the report. Young told a deputy that the girl had “no reason to be inside the school.”

A trespass notice was given to the girl, whose father came to pick her up, according to the report.

Jim Foster, the Beaufort County School District’s director of communications, declined comment on the incident.
