Seabrook man shot in the hand, gives conflicting accounts
A Seabrook man shot in the hand Thursday afternoon gave conflicting accounts as to how it happened and isn’t cooperating with Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office investigators.
The man told Beaufort Memorial Hospital staff he shot himself while cleaning his handgun, a Sheriff’s Office release said. When deputies arrived, he told them he had been shot by an unknown person while walking down Burton Wells Road.
He later recanted the story and didn’t allow investigators to take a picture of the wound or collect other evidence.
Anyone with information is asked to call Beaufort County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brandon Disbrow at 843-255-3407 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC to remain anonymous and possibly receive a reward.
