Hurricane Matthew disaster-recovery centers shorten operating hours

Operating hours at the Hurricane Matthew disaster-recovery centers in Beaufort and on Hilton Head Island are being reduced starting this week, a Federal Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman said Monday.

The recovery centers, which serve as one-stop shops to assist those applying for disaster-recovery assistance, had been open until 7 p.m. during designated weekdays at the two centers, and until 6 p.m. Saturday at one of the centers, according to an earlier release.

Now, the centers will close two hours earlier each day, said FEMA spokeswoman Linda Downing.

The recovery centers are open at the following times and locations:

▪ 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, at Burton Wells Recreation Center, 1 Middleton Recreation Dr., Beaufort.

▪ 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, at Hilton Head Island Town Hall, 1 Town Center Court, Hilton Head Island.
