Local artists have a chance to win major exposure

A competition to showcase the work of artists from Beaufort and surrounding counties returns for another year.

The second annual ArtPop Beaufort is a collaboration of the Beaufort Arts Council and Adams Outdoor Advertising. Ten artists’ submissions will be chosen by a panel of judges to appear on area billboards for a year, starting in February.

Artists must live in Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton or Colleton counties. Submissions can be any media and must be received by Jan 15.

Work can be submitted at www.beaufortartscouncil.org. Submission guidelines and past winners can also be found on the website.

The competition received 73 submissions its first year. Inaugural winners included oil and watercolor paintings, photography and formed glass.

Winning art will be featured on rotating basis on five area billboards.
