Break out the sweaters - chilly temps expected this weekend
It’s time to start thinking about swapping your shorts and flip-flops for a sweater.
Meteorologists are expecting chillier than normal temperatures this weekend, with lows dipping below 40 degrees.
“It’s definitely going to be quite a bit cooler,” National Weather Service Charleston meteorologist Emily Timte said Thursday.
The temperature drop is expected Saturday night into Sunday morning with overnight lows anticipated to be in the upper 30s for the inland portions of Beaufort County and around 40 degrees closer to the coast.
The high temperature for Sunday is forecast at around 60 degrees, or about 10 degrees lower than normal, Timte said.
By Sunday night, temperatures could drop to the low 30s.
Despite the cool weather, it “will likely be too dry for frost potential,” Timte said.
Further inland — in places such as Allendale and Hampton counties — there is an overnight freeze potential this weekend, she said.
Next week, just in time for Thanksgiving, temperatures are expected to rise back to normal levels.
The weather “moderates a little bit,” with high temperatures back in the 70s by Wednesday, Timte said.
