Boy allegedly uses his grandmother’s phone to make burglary plans
A St. Helena Island boy allegedly used his grandmother’s phone to make burglary plans late Friday morning.
The grandmother said he had used her phone to send Facebook messages in which he described a house with two pistols inside that he would rob with a new friend, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report. After she found the messages, the boy took the phone back and logged out of his Facebook account, the grandmother told deputies. She called the boy’s father, who called the Sheriff’s Office.
The boy told deputies he wasn’t really going to rob the place, he only intended to get $5 back from the other guy who was supposed to buy him weed but “lost” the money, according to the report. The boy said he was planning to intimidate the other kid into getting his money back after luring him with this fake burglary plan. He claimed the messages had been deleted and refused to provide his Facebook account password so his grandmother could try to access the messages again.
