Report: Driver in Sheldon has 2 run-ins in the same work zone
A driver and two tree removal workers didn’t agree on what happened on Old Sheldon Church Road in Sheldon on Thursday afternoon.
The driver said he didn’t see any signs indicating there was a work zone for tree removal, but one of the workers said he had been standing there holding his stop/slow sign indicating the road was temporarily down to one lane, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report. The driver came to an abrupt stop when he saw the man with the sign just before the work zone, and the two argued.
The driver then allegedly sped away from the first man and through the work zone only to meet a second worker with a sign, according to the report. The driver said the man threw his sign at the car, but the worker said he just tossed his sign without intending to hit anything and jumped out of the way of the car for his own safety. The sign hit the car, causing some damage to the windshield and the hood, according to the report. The second worker said the driver got out of the car and allegedly threatened to shoot him, but he never saw a weapon.
No charges were filed in connection with the incident.
