Robber hits Beaufort convenience store early Monday

A man robbed the Kangaroo Express on Robert Smalls Parkway shortly after 5 a.m. on Monday, according to a Beaufort Police Department report.

The man is described as a tall, slim black man in his mid-40s with dark but graying hair, approximately 6-foot-2 and 130 lbs, according to department spokeswoman Sgt. Hope Able. At the time, he was wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeve white shirt. He covered his face and head with a black shirt.

The two employees who were there at the time said the man indicated he had a gun, but said they did not see one, Able said. The man ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No injuries were reported.
