Expect to see new safety signs at Beaufort, Jasper county boat landings

As part of an effort to remind boaters to slow down on waterways in Beaufort and Jasper counties as the recovery from Hurricane Matthew continues, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources will place new signs at local boat landings.

The new signs will be displayed at a news conference at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Bluffton Oyster Factory Park boat landing, 75 Wharf St., according to a SCDNR news release.

Law enforcement officials from the agency will be on hand to answer questions about what is expected from boaters during the storm recovery period. Local elected officials and members of the Beaufort and Jasper county state legislative delegations may also be in attendance, the release said.
