Parris Island to celebrate Marine Corps’ 241st birthday
Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island will celebrate the Marines’ 241st birthday next week.
The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. at Parris Island’s All Weather Training Center on Nov. 2. The event will include a historical uniform pageant, the Parris Island Marine Band, a cake-cutting ceremony and birthday messages from past and current Marine Corps leaders.
The pageant will include Marines displaying historical uniforms and flags. The cake ceremony will include the youngest and oldest Marine in attendance, symbolizing the passing of knowledge and tradition from one generation to the next, a news release said.
