Beaufort Digital Corridor has a face.

The technology incubator initiative opening later this year in downtown Beaufort has hired Karen Warner as its program manager. Warner has experience in the tech industry, venture capital and executive coaching, according to a news release.

That experience, along with a focus on “creating tangible and measurable results,” led to her selection, Charleston Digital Corridor director Ernest Andrade said in the release.

The Beaufort initiative will be patterned after the successful public-private effort in Charleston in an attempt to build and grow technology companies here and attract high-paying jobs.

The Digital Corridor will be housed as what is being called BASECamp, the renovated former bank building at 500 Carteret St. The office space is expected to be complete by the end of November.

“This facility represents the space for tech and tech-related entrepreneurs,” Andrade said at an open-house event last week. “They now have a place where the can congregate and collaborate to start to build Beaufort’s next economy.”
