Beaufort could finalize distribution of its bed tax grants tonight.
Accommodations tax recommendations are on the agenda for Beaufort City Council, which meets first for a work session at 5 p.m., followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 1911 Boundary St.
New Beaufort Memorial Hospital CEO Russell Baxley will be introduced during the work session, and council will get an update from the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce on Hurricane Matthew’s effect on tourism. City Council will also discuss its contract with Burton Fire District during a closed-door session with Port Royal Town Council.
On the regular agenda, council will consider approval of the bed tax grants and a change to a development agreement and rezoning request related to a new car dealership planned for Robert Smalls Parkway.
Council will also vote on whether to contract with Johnson Controls as the city’s energy service provider.
