Need help this Christmas? Sign up this week

Parents can sign up for the The Salvation Army of the Lowcountry’s Christmas assistance program starting Wednesday.

Sign-up will be from 9 a.m. until noon and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the Salvation Army, 2505 North St., Beaufort. Assistance is available for children 12 and younger.

To sign up, you must bring a South Carolina picture identification or driver’s license, Social Security card for everyone in the house, custody papers if applicable, a 1099 form for those self-employed and documentation for homeowners.

Additionally, applicants must bring proof of all current income and all current expenses.

Income includes regular income, spouse’s income, financial assistance for fostering children, food stamps, unemployment, Social Security, child support, alimony and any other income. Proof of expenses should include utility bills, rent or mortgage, medical insurance, medical bills, phone bill, auto loan and expenses, credit cards, child support, alimony and any other expenses.

A copy of a current Department of Social Services household and financial summary is also required.
