Alleged Hardeeville club shooter arrested in Ridgeland after foot chase
A Hardeeville man accused of attempting to force a woman into his vehicle before shooting a night club employee in the hand in July was arrested on Sunday after he refused to leave a Ridgeland club.
Bernard Lyles, 31, was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon after he was arrested near Club Pluto on South Jacob Smart Boulevard around 2:10 a.m., according to a Ridgeland Police Department report.
Officers were called to the club along with Jasper County Sheriff’s Office deputies after a report of a patron causing a disturbance and refusing to leave, the report said. He ran into a wooded area after he was confronted by law enforcement, but was eventually apprehended, the report said.
Deputies then identified Lyles as a wanted person by deputies in connection with a July 29 shooting of a Club Karma employee in Hardeeville.
Lyles had allegedly attempted to force one of the club’s dancers into his vehicle in July when security staff intervened, the report said.
At that time, Lyles allegedly fired a single shot, striking one of the staff members in the hand before the gun was wrestled from him and he fled.
After his Sunday arrest, Lyles was taken to the Jasper County Detention Center.
