Mobile home park owner’s shooting death case runs cold 13 years later
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputies are seeking more information on a 13-year-old cold case in which a Beaufort man was shot to death.
Yu Cheung Tam, 63, was shot to death during a home invasion at his residence in Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park in Beaufort on Oct. 21, 2003, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Investigators learned multiple unknown suspects were seen in and around the home and involved in the incident, but none were identified.
Tam, the owner of the mobile home park, apparently had recent disputes with local drug dealers over the sale of drugs in the area, the release said.
Investigators believe those disputes may be motives for Tam’s murder, the release said.
Interviews of witnesses revealed the suspects asked Tam where the money was before hearing a gun shot.
Anyone with information about the cold case can contact Capt. Bob Bromage at 843-255-3402 or 843-816-8013. Emails can also be sent to robertb@bcgov.net.
Anonymous tips can be given to Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.
