Playing ball in Beaufort’s Burton Wells Park to help save kids

Burton Wells Park will hold the second annual Emergency Services Softball Tournament on Oct. 15.

Proceeds will be split up between the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital Burned Children’s Fund and Nicholas Abrams, a young Beaufort boy suffering a relapse of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, according to a flyer for the event shared by the Beaufort-Port Royal Fire Department’s Facebook page.

The tournament is open to military, fire, police and EMS professionals and their spouses, according to the flyer. Teams must register by Monday with a registration fee of $275 per team.
