Mitchelville Park set to reopen after local beach renourishment wraps up

Mitchelville Park will open Friday at 6 a.m. after being closed nearly a month for beach renourishment.

The project started at the park on June 17. The park remained closed as trucks spread sand pumped in from offshore.

Additional renourishment continues around the heel of the island near Port Royal Plantation, but workers will move to south shore locations in coming weeks.
