Sunday evening vigil planned to honor Louisiana, Minnesota and Dallas dead

A Beaufort County candlelight prayer vigil in honor of the memories of those killed in Baton Rouge, Minneapolis and Dallas will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday on Hilton Head Island.

Organizers at First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Arthur Wiley Post 49 plan to conduct the vigil at Veterans Memorial Park at Shelter Cove, said Blaine Lotz.

“Let’s come together as a community to lament the violence and the heartache and promote racial reconciliation,” Lotz said.

The event will be led by community leaders and clergy from several faiths and denominations. They will speak and offer prayers.

Lotz said attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for seating.
