Hilton Head beats Bali and Kauai in Travel + Leisure’s best islands of world survey

Hilton Head Island has been named one of the best islands in the world in Travel + Leisure magazine’s annual World’s Best Awards survey this year.

Readers of Travel + Leisure ranked Hilton Head Island No. 8 out of 10 islands around the planet, beating out Bali, Indonesia and Kauai, Hawaii.

Hilton Head was one of three United States islands ranked; the other two were Kauai and Maui in Hawaii.

According to T + L, participants in the survey considered an island’s friendliness, activities and sights, beaches, food, natural attractions and overall value during the ranking process.
