Bluffton Police will close portion of S.C. 170 on Sunday

Two lanes of S.C. 170 headed toward Bluffton Parkway and Gibbet Road will be closed starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday as police officers reconstruct an accident that left a driver with life-threatening injuries.

The Bluffton Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit will be investigating the crash involving two vehicles that happened at the intersection of S.C. 170 and Gibbet Road around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

One of the drivers was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Traffic traveling down S.C. 170 will be rerouted onto Highland Crossing Drive, Estate Drive and then onto Gibbet Road. From there, traffic will be rerouted to May River Road.

The investigation could take up to two hours to complete.
