Fundraiser to help Hilton Head boy with cancer
A fundraiser to benefit Alex Arrieta, a 10-year-old Hilton Head Island boy battling cancer, will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fiesta Fresh in Bluffton.
The restaurant will donate 25 percent of its proceeds to help the family, according to organizers. Alex has been at the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital in Charleston since January receiving treatment for acute myeloid leukemia, which returned this year after going into remission last summer.
The fundraiser is sponsored by Leo’s Legacy, a nonprofit group formed to honor 9-year-old Leo Vannoni of Bluffton who died of leukemia last March.
