Thank you for reading our newspaper. Today, you will notice some changes in our print and digital Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette.

You will see an updated font, improved section headers, more white space and bigger photos. These changes allow us to be more efficient in producing our newspaper and allow us to easily share content with our sister papers when we feel our readers will benefit.

In November, we reorganized our content in the printed newspaper and we enhanced written and visual storytelling across our digital platforms, from desktops to smartphones to laptops to tablets. Upgrades to the digital experience continue.

Overall, we are improving navigation of the newspaper while emphasizing the content you value most: local news, analysis, sports, entertainment and things to do.

You will find a combination of short, easily scanned content and broader reporting. The Long Read is a popular addition, giving extra space to in-depth stories each Wednesday through Saturday. This complements the local project reporting you've become accustomed to each Sunday.

That's a summary. We will keep you posted to upcoming changes and improvements. Thank you for being loyal and engaged readers. As always, your opinions are welcome. Please take a moment to share your feedback.

We hope you will enjoy these updates to our products as we position our company for the future.
