Hilton Head named a 'best place to retire' by national magazine

Hilton Head Island was named one of "America's 100 Best Places to Retire" in a recent book from Where to Retire magazine.

The book includes profiles of locales that have been featured in the magazine and includes a variety of locations, whether they are "small, undiscovered havens" or large cities, according to a news release. Each place's profile includes local knowledge, interviews with retirees who have made the move, and quick facts on taxes, climate, walkability, housing and health care.

Other South Carolina cities included are Charleston, Greenville and Myrtle Beach. The magazine featured Beaufort in its September/October edition, mentioning its outdoor appeal.
