The primaries are over. Here’s who you can vote for in Beaufort County on Election Day
South Carolina’s statewide primary wrapped up after primary runoff results came in Tuesday night.
The primaries began on June 9. Some races were decided that day, but those where no candidate received 50% of the vote went to the June 23 runoff. Ahead of the primary, early voting participation broke previous records from 2024. Local, state and congressional primaries were on the ballot.
The primaries determined Republican and Democratic candidates for each race.
Here are the candidates on the ballot this November:
Who are Beaufort County’s candidates?
The biggest race in Beaufort County this fall is the race for sheriff, as longtime Sheriff P.J. Tanner is not seeking reelection for the first time in nearly three decades. Eight Beaufort County Council seats are also on the ballot; voters will vote for one candidate, depending on where they live in the county.

The Transportation Sales Tax referendum will also be on the ballot in November. If passed, a 1% sales tax will be levied starting May 1, 2027 in Beaufort County to fund infrastructure projects.
