Early voting in the SC primary runoffs begins Wednesday. Here’s your guide
Early voting for the statewide primary runoffs begins Wednesday.
The primary elections were held on June 9. Candidates in primaries with more than two candidates have to receive a majority of the votes to win. According to the South Carolina Elections Commission, this is determined by dividing the total votes cast by two. A candidate must receive more than that number to win the primary. If they don’t, the two candidates with the most votes proceed to a runoff election.
Several primaries resulted in runoffs, including one in Beaufort County. Here’s how you can vote early in the primary runoffs:
How to vote early
Early voting begins tomorrow and lasts through Thursday. Polls will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. All you need to bring is I.D. An I.D. can be a driver’s license, passport or voter registration card with a photo. Since this is a primary election, you can only vote for one party’s candidates. If you voted in the primary already, you must vote for the same party you did then.
Polling locations for early voting are:
- Main Voter Registration Office in Beaufort at 15 John Galt Road, Beaufort
- Bluffton Branch Library at 120 Palmetto Way, Bluffton
- USCB -- Hilton Head Campus, Room 115, at 1 Sand Shark Dr, Hilton Head Island
