Primary election day is next week. Here’s much money Beaufort Co. sheriff campaigns raised

Doug Seifert and Jojo Woodward are in a primary race to become the Republican candidate for Beaufort County Sheriff. Early voting is ongoing, and election day is June 9.

Their campaigns have been funded through contributions from the community. Contributors range from individuals to local businesses. Both campaigns received tens of thousands in contributions; details are publicly available.

In South Carolina, individual contributions to local candidates can not exceed $1,000, according to the South Carolina State Ethics Commission. Campaigns are required to report their contributions to the commission 15 days prior to the election date and quarterly throughout the year. Businesses are limited to $1,000 as well.

Here’s the breakdown on who contributed and how much each sheriff candidate received:

Woodward’s contributions

Woodward has received $39,450 in campaign contributions as of June 2.

  • 40 individual contributors with $28,350 in contributions total
  • 12 business contributors with $11,100 in contributions total

Seifert has received more campaign contributions than Woodward at $54,325 as of June 2. He also holds a 20% lead over Woodward, according to a straw poll held by the Beaufort County GOP May 17.

His campaign is funded by:

  • 90 individual contributors with $44,625 in contributions total.
  • 11 business contributors with $9,700 in contributions total.
